Some lessons for Yuxin from mainland China
To make a short story long: Mary Loomis met Yuxin's American "mother" and in talking together Mary discovered that Yuxin would like to learn how to make jewelry. Mary quickly volunteered her husband Tom Loomis to give Yuxin some lessons. (Tom was the jewelry & sculpture teacher at the local university for 30 plus years.) While Yuxin was working and learning at the Loomis home, she noticed a couple of my pieces on the walls and showed an interest is learning about my art. Tom called me and we arranged for Yuxin to visit my cellar studio and learn my techniques. Below she is removing some color from her first piece:

Career day at a local high school - here are the three groups I spoke with:
Dave Webster called me a couple of months ago with an offer I couldn't refuse. He asked me to present "Artist" at his Athens High School's career day. Today was the day. Myself and 70 others had 30 minute periods with interested students telling about our careers. I did mention that it's good to have a "day job" if you want to produce art. I was an elementary art teacher for 31 years and I spent 6 years supervising art student teachers - but all the while I kept painting and developing my art.

Grand Canyon Photo Club
Each month members are encouraged to submit a digital photograph in line with a topic, idea or process. This month our challenge was "Pennsylvania/NewYork." I choose to photograph Rt. 15 which connects us here in the northern tier of Pennsylvania with the southern tier of New York. The color in the photograph was very spotty what with some green grass and still lots of yellow and brown - so I went with a black & white image - warmed a little! You can see each month's entries in our newsletters at Grand Canyon Photo Club - Pennsylvania's Grand Canyon!
