Art by committee again

Every Tuesday anyone can enter artwork depicting a line taken from various science fiction manuscripts. As you know, Jim Gurney does this on his blog Gurney Journey. All the particulars can be found using this link. This week the phrase had to do with an "eye swollen shut." That brought to mind a quote hung at the Hamilton Club here in Tioga County, Pa - "Minds are like parachutes, they work better when open." Eyes, too. So that was my focus.
