Library benefit a large success!

The 5th annual benefit at the Wren's Nest was a wonderful affair. Jamie and Christina Fry (with the help of their son & daughter) put on a great feast from 2pm until 5pm this past Sunday. See a short video on youtube by clicking here.
Mansfield's newly renovated library is below. It is one of the many Carnegie libraries built with the help of Andrew Carnegie in the early 1900s.

5th Annual Library Benefit

I have been working on the tickets for our library's largest fundraiser of the year. Please contact the Mansfield Free Public Library if you need tickets. The phone numeber is (570) 662-3580. Below are the new tickets which include photos of last year's event.

This year the summer reading program at our Mansfield Free Public Library has the theme - "Catch the reading bug!" Below is my preliminary sketch.
I choose to use pastel colors - the three bugs are versions of red, blue and yellow the primary colors.

Chicken Barbeque Success

At 7 am on a cold, February morning, we began lighting the charcoal so that we could barbeque 300 chicken halves.
By using Arnie Brion's secret sauce, we were able to keep a steady flow of smoke following us wherever we stood.

Arnie designed and built the portable grill. The chickens became golden brown after a couple of hours. The chicken wrappers were well prepared to begin wrapping. I know that they will be disappointed that their faces don't show! All the chicken was sold by 11:45 am. I do paint a few signs so it was only natural that I would volunteer to do our fund-raising sign. We did raise $124,000 to renovate the outside of our library. Each year Mary Sirgey volunteers me to paint something to advertise the summer reading program - "Scales and paws, tails and claws" was the theme. This year the theme is "Catch the reading bug at your library." So I have bugs to paint soon!
